Our Story
If you’ve ever dreamed of having a reformer at home, or if you’ve tried to equip your studio and felt that quiet shock at the price of good equipment — you’ll understand exactly why this began. It didn’t start with a business plan or a showroom — it started with a shared frustration. Every Pilates lover knows it: the wish to bring that studio experience home, only to find reformers priced so high it feels almost outrageous. And for studio owners, the struggle is just as real — wanting to equip their spaces with reliable, high-quality reformers, yet facing tremendous costs from existing premium brands.
I first discovered rehab Pilates in the late 1990s while pursuing my master’s degree. Long hours spent writing my dissertation had led to persistent back pain — and that quiet discovery would later shape my path. Years later, during my doctoral studies, the pain returned — this time more serious, spreading through my back and neck. My commitment to Pilates deepened. Through decades in academia, I remained faithful to movement — to rehab Pilates, and to meditation in motion. I learned that meditation is not stillness, but awareness unfolding through every movement. In time, I chose to train as an instructor, deepening my understanding not only of movement, but of how awareness itself can heal.

As a Pilates instructor, I kept hearing the same questions — from clients, friends, and fellow teachers all seeking quality equipment that was both reliable and attainable. Those conversations became the spark that started Lux & Miles.
Just before COVID began, we built our first reformers — one full studio set, one customer, one conversation at a time. Then, as studios closed and the world slowed down, something unexpected happened: the Pilates community grew closer. Through word of mouth, trust, and shared purpose, Lux & Miles began to spread.
Within a year, our equipment found homes from Darwin to Cable Beach Resort, from Hobart and Launceston to Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, and Adelaide. What began as a small solution to a shared problem became a movement supported by hundreds of instructors, physiotherapists, and studios across Australia.
From Local Trust to Global Connection What began in a small studio now connects people around the world who share a love for mindful movement. Our equipment is trusted by leading physio clinics, Pilates studios, and gyms — from Underwood Health Clinic in Brisbane to world-renowned spaces like Return to Life in Manhattan, New York. Today, Lux & Miles equipment is part of a growing international network across Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Switzerland, Greece, South Korea, Indonesia, and Vietnam — each space a reflection of our shared belief in quality, accessibility, and care. We’re deeply grateful for every partnership, every conversation, and every client who has helped shape who we are.
Where Movement Meets Stillness We believe that each piece of Pilates equipment is, in itself, a meditation — a space where control becomes release, and repetition becomes rhythm. When movement is seamless and the equipment disappears beneath awareness, what remains is presence. We design studio-grade Pilates equipment with that philosophy in mind: Quiet in function, smooth in motion, balanced in form. Every detail — from the tension of a spring to the glide of a carriage — is refined to feel effortless.
Because equipment should never interrupt awareness; it should lead you back to it. We believe Pilates is more than movement — it’s a dialogue between balance, strength, and stillness. Movement becomes meditation. Every piece of Lux & Miles equipment invites you to return to presence.
